X-PRO1 – Walkabout in Dubai Mall
Last Thursday I picked up my new HTC OneX that I’m absolutely stoked about.
But I have to admit that it was an impulsive purchase. I didn’t walk into the mall with the intention to buy the phone. Far from it actually..
Johanna was due to land from her flight at 9:30 pm that evening and I was going to kill time at the mall before going to pick her up. I had my trusty X-PRO1 with me and figured the weekend hustle and bustle would bring a plethora of street type shots.
But one of the first opportunities I spotted was the featured image of this post. And luckily I had my mini manfrotto tripod with me so I shot a 7 Bracket sequence. I wasn’t really able to get perfect composition but I still loved the overall scene. I call the shot “The Modern Souq”.- for those that don’t know, a Souq is a persian market.
A lot must have gone into setting up that restaurant. Just look at the shelves !
This store had an Arabic Ice Cream Maker.
They have a live demonstration of the process that involved the huge wooden Gong, a lot of noise, and finally a lot of free tasting handouts. Absolutely scrumptious coated with crushed Pistas.
Loved the color and ambiance here.
People love snapping the silver divers here. There were quite a few staring at the tiny LCD behind their cameras wondering if they had the best shot.
So after getting in my catch for the evening, I finally landed at the Axiom phone store and they had a kiosk with the HTC phone that you could try out. As luck would have it, there wasn’t much traffic and what started at 7:30 as a comparison between my Iphone 4 and this new wonder tunred into me making a purchase at 9:40…. I actually forgot to leave in time for the airport……
